Kate & Jack

Kate and Jack’s celebrations were held in Shell Harbour, about a two-hour drive from Sydney, but the long drive was worth it. The views along the coastline were amazing, the breeze was warm, the ocean waves were crashing and the sun was beaming. I barely noticed the time to go.

I arrived to see the guys first. Even before I got in the door, I knew the vibes were good. People were laughing and cheering and beer glasses were clinking already. I  dodged six boxes of Carlton Draught and a few bottles of whiskey in the hallway before being greeted by masses of friendly faces. Parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters, relatives, and friends from overseas.

It was going to be a great day.

Jack was like King For A Day. Everyone was so happy for him to be marrying his lovely Kate. We did group and family photos and had so much fun that the boys even let me do some shots with them all kissing and hugging the groom. I  could have hung out there all day - but of course, time was ticking.

Things were much calmer with the girls. Less people. Less noise. The girls were excited but possibly a little nervous too. They were all so emotional. We loved it. Kate was a natural in front of the camera, which always makes our job easy. We took photos with Kate and her girl squad and with her mum.

From there, we made our way to the ceremony location. The guitarist was setting up. The flower girls and page boys were busy sprinkling petals on the ground. A friend was putting the final touches on the styling.  I  snapped away, delighted. I love shooting behind the scenes and we always prefer candid wedding photography. We want the moments captured to be real stories.

There’s so much to tell. No doubt, the images will do a better job for us, but our most memorable part of the whole day was taking location photos. We went to the beach where Jack proposed to Kate and everybody walked from the top of the mountain to the beach. This bridal party was epic. Thirty-odd people!  Friends and family, all in - and all having so much fun. We’ve never shot such a big group on location before. but we liked it!
