The Kids
Kids at weddings certainly do up the cute factor, but you never really know what they’ll get up to.
Actually, that's why we love them so much.
On a day where so much is planned and organized and styled to perfection, it is often the things we don't expect that we remember and treasure the most.
The flower girls that take extra special care to empty every single petal from their basket - or stop halfway and just sit down on the job.
The little ringbearer that wanders down the aisle, proud as punch, carrying the rings on a pillow, knowing that he is the most important role of the day.
The Best Man, all of 10 years old, standing at his dad’s side, feeling like a man and a boy, all at the same time.
Gorgeous unscripted moments of kiddies playing and getting up to mischief. Dirty knees, just minutes before the ceremony. Little girls swirling around and around in their big skirts, until they fall over. Mini bouquets are somewhat smaller than they were half an hour earlier. Little ones bribed down the aisle with a favorite toy or a Freddo frog.
All gold - ( and between us, all of it is a photographer’s dream) .
There are so many ways to include kids at your wedding.
Ask them to bless the rings before you exchange them.
Let them bring a sign down the aisle before the bride, announcing her arrival.
Let them be the official bridal party ( so long as you don't mind if they end up crawling around your feet)
Let them shoot bubble guns as you walk back up the aisle.
Ask them to give you to each other ( if they’re your kids, of course)
But remember…..
Kids will never be predictable.
Small children can be overwhelmed at the last minute.
Tantrums can happen.
Kids get hungry - and hangry - at just the wrong moment.
Toddlers will always want to be picked up, right when you are making your vows. We guarantee it!
Yes, kids are a challenge at weddings - but if you let them be kids, you just might be rewarded with magic.
